Let me know how you are doing and what worked for you as I am still suffering off and on with this.
Hi there
I have on this forum posted my question for advice too and just seen your post. My supposed reflux started with a cough then went away now I have throat clearing, sore pain on one side of the throat when I breathe in or swallow saliva and a feeling that my throat is sticking together. I too was on antibiotics forever and nothing helped. PPI for two weeks with no improvement, now back on PPI for 2 months however I am seeing a specialist ENT professor tomorrow for some more answers as the GP's keep fobbing me off!
An ENT may be able to help you .....but do ask about a histamine over production to see if it could be a issue with you.
Or if a different med like a H2 blocker may be a better choice....
Make sure you are modifying your diet and lifestyle to help reduce the symptoms you are having.
Thanks for your reply. I was given antibiotics because my doctor thought I had bronchitis. I was also given an inhaler, was told to try nasal steriod and lastly the Prilosec. Nothing has helped. I'm constantly clearing my throat. I sometimes feel there is something stuck but not all the time. This has been going on for over 4 months and is quite exhausting. I'm not sure what to try next. I've been referred to an ent.
Hi deetee958 and welcome to the GERD forum.
It may be possible that your issue is post nasal drip or allergies....Did your Drs do testing....? And what was the reason they gave you antibiotics?
Reflux can occur due to the post nasal drip and may be a present symptom along with reflux symptoms...those with LPR or Silent reflux may not have the typical symptoms....but a horse voice, constant clearing of the throat, a lump or what feels like food getting caught in the throat are all symptoms of LPR.
Have you been to a GI Dr?
