You're doing the right thing by going to an ENT doctor. I went and he took a look down into my throat and said it was very irritated. I too felt like my tongue and throat was on fire and felt like I was breathing menthol. I told the nurse at my primary doctors about breathing menthol and all she did was laugh at me. I am betting you need the Omeprazole dosage upped. I was taking 40 mg. a day and they upped it to 40 mg. 2x a day.
I went to the er on Christmas as i was having shortness of breath. 3 times they tied to tell me it was panic attacks. I finally demanded it was reflux when i was having a feeling like my tongue was burnt and i was breathing menthol. They agreed and put me on 20mg omeprazole. It worked for two weeks then i started burping hundreds of times a day and getting had trapped near my diaphragm. They upped my dose to 40mg and said come back in a year!! I've also had a lump in my submandibular on the left side for the past 3 months. My primary said to stop touching it and come back if it gets later or hurts. I went to another dr the other day as i was having pain in my check, i also have tmj, but i wanted to see if it was related to the gland. He said it is the lymph node but considers "normal". I am going to request as appointment with an ent soon as i am still burping and having a slight sore throat even though i have cut out caffeine, coffee, chocolate, fat, etc. I don't smoke, drink, nor am i overweight. Mine started after i got my first menstrual after having twins. I'm thinking it's either hormonal or i developed a hiatal hernia during my pregnancy....
I am looking for the same answer. I have been on 40 mg. Omeprazole 2x a day since February 5th and was wondering how long it takes to get better? How long have you been on the meds?
You need to talk to your doctor about this matter.
