Constant need to gag

Hi,
I have a constant need to gag i dont know why but it just happens usually a piece of mint/Gum would do the trick but now it just won't work..... i feel the urge mostly when i a nervous or overwhelmed... it happens when ever it feels like happening and it gets embarassing i work for a school and having 100s of kids see you gag out of no where is really something else... lol i try to make the best out of the day but gets hard of i keep needing to gag which leads me to finding a private place to do so..... please anyone with help on how to control or stop this please share ! I have not been to a doctor because i have read tons of stories just like mine n no one seems to get a clear answer frm a doctor. I have had this for about 4 years alll help/comments are greatly appreciated

Thank you for you advice ! Will try what you have said..... It is hard for me to be stress free lol my job can get really stressful maybe time for a new career !

You should see an ENT and an endocrinologist. You want to make sure its not your throat, sinuses, or thyroid causing the problem.
That being said, anxiety has been known to cause the 'lump in throat' feeling. You need to control your stress and anxiety. You can see a therapist, begin meditation, do yoga, start drinking calming teas, take holy basil, or a slew of other calming techniques.
