Intestinal parasites

Starting on February 13th of this year, I have had attacks of diarrhea and nausea (including vomiting) on almost a clockwork basis every two months. The attacks occurred on February 13, April 15, June 17, and August 19.  When I saw my regular doctor at the end of June he was puzzled and referred me to a surgeon for an endoscopy and a colonoscopy.  The surgeon scheduled that work for mid-July; shortly therefafter (before the work) the surgeon's office called to tell me the doctor had to be out of town at that time, and that we would have to reschedule.  I decided to wait until August to see if it returned.

The first episode (February 13) was a relatively mild bout of diarrhea and a brief period of nausea with vomiting.

The second episode (April 15) was a major attack with a day long bout of diarrhea and vomiting. It was 3 days before I felt like eating solid food again.

The third episode (June 17), lasted about half a day and I was able to eat that night. No vomiting.

The fourth episode (August 19) lasted about 2 hours, and like the June 17th bout, there was no vomiting.

Someone suggested I might have an intestinal parasite.

Any thoughts, suggestions?

I don't really have any helpful advice.  I saw your posting when I was looking to see if anyone has any similar symptomes to me.  But what I can tell you is that I think I have a similar experience (though its not as consistant as yours).  About maybe 4 times within the past year I've thought that I have had food poisoning because I'll suddenly get bouts of diarrhea and vomiting for 1 day to 3 days at a time (sometimes with a fever).  Though this current time I've had the same type of symptoms, only much mileder, for almost a month now(no fever).  I've been to a GI and had tones of blood test but only one stool test.  I think I've read that some kinds of parasites don't regester unless they take a few test.  Though it seems really odd (to me at lest) that it would be so clock-work.

But maybe we have they same kind of thing?

Maybe we do (have the same kind of problem).  I don't know.  I do know it comes almost like clockwork.  I posted a description of my problems on a discussion board, relating to politics, and someone mentioned that it might be a parasite.  Presumably they go through some sort of life-cycle that causes problems on a regular basis (every 62 or 63 days).  In addition, since the second episode, the bouts are decreasing in severity.
