Burning in lower left quadrant.

I am a 26 yo  female.  I have had chronic constipation most of my life. for the last few months, I have had very strange symptoms. After I eat I very quickly develop a very intense burning sensation, very similar to heartburn, however it is in my lower left quadrant.  Sometimes combined with nausea. I have found that the burning is more significant if I have had a large bowel movement. I have been taking Miralax for the last 2 months in hopes the symptoms would subside.  However, they still occur. The burning/pain is not every single time I eat, but  at least 4 times a week. I do not have health insurance, and the urgent care told me they cannot help me because the test are too expensive. Any ideas?

Hi there!

Well, without a clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of your symptoms. Possibilities that may need to be considered include GI/ GU infections, inflammations, pancreatitis, diverticulitis, GI motility disorders, growths/ masses, referred pain from other regions etc. I would suggest getting this evaluated by a primary care physician initially and depending on the cause diagnosed/ suspected, it can be managed accordingly or specialist care may be sought.
Hope this helps.

Take care!
