You were correct with my doctor wanting to to an MRCP. You have alot of knowledge. Thank you for the information. Are you a doctor?
Ashley, it could be that you're having spasms of the common bile duct or the sphincter of Oddi, the muscular opening to the duodenum if the pain is in the location of where your gallbladder was, or if it's located about 2 inches over to the right and up from your bellybutton. Ask your doc about SOD (sphincter of Oddi dysfunction) and if you can try some anti-spasm meds. In addition, try following a low fat diet to see if that's of help. Some people can't handle fats after surgery the way they did previously, and a diet change might be of help.
When spasms occur, they can cause a backup of bile and pancreatic fluids which can really impact the pancreas and the liver.
Ask your doc if you should be looking at the biliary/pancreatic system using an MRCP instead of a CT.
They did a CT Scan on friday and it came back clean. They originally thought that because I had numerous stones that there could be some left behind. I have this horrible pain that comes and goes and wakes me up sometimes at night.
could be a small stone left behind in the duct to the pancreas, the lipse levels would be elevated indicating pancreas issues.
