Pain in right side nearly 5 years after gallbladder surgery

I had my first son 5 years ago in June. 2 weeks after my c-section, I started having terrible pain in my right side that traveled to my back, I couldn't breathe through the pain and ended up in the ER once. After seeing my OB for my 6-week check-up, I described my pain and he immediately sent me for an ultrasound of my gallbladder. Sure enough, I had gallstones and was referred to a surgeon. After 8 weeks of a strictly low-fat (literally rice cakes and water) diet, I had my gallbladder removed. I have done great thus far, I did have terrible gerd during my 2nd pregnancy and it has continued to bother me since then. It is nothing that a little prevacid and diet can't control.

So, here goes my question... after nearly 5 years ago, suddenly I am terrible pain again in my right side. This pain is different than my gallbladder attacks, it is much more constant and doesn't come and go. It feels like there is just something "stuck" there that won't go away. What could this pain be? It seems to get worse if I eat something fatt, much like the gallbladder attacks and with this pain I have had reoccuring bouts of diarrhea, something that I normally do not have. Is it possible that I have another gallstone stuck in my bile duct? I've tried to do more research online but haven't had much luck.

Any insight to my problem would be greatly appreciated!

With the appendix it usually progresses very quickly.  You should probably have your doctor do some lab work to check the function of your various organs.  That could provide insight into what's going on.

This has been going on for about 2 weeks now... it isn't necessarily getting worse, just not going away.

How long has this been going on?  Do you have a fever?  It could be your appendix.  I would check with your doctor as soon as possible.  If is just started and it gets worse, you may need to go to the ER.

It is possible to have a long-lodged stone, or to develop stones after the gallbladder is gone. It's also possible to have bile duct spasms. You need to contact you doctor and get checked out. Make sure you have you liver and pancreatic enzymes levels checked.
