Possible IBS or something worse

Began having discomfort and "pinching" pain in lower right abdomen around 3 or 4 weeks ago. Since I've had irritable bowel my whole adult life (I'm 63) I assumed that's what it was. Either that or psoas muscle acting up. I've had that too. I started geting discomfort in left lower abdomin and decided to try an at home urinary tract infection kit. The first try showed what I guess was a trace? The second try next day showed positive for the white blood cell part. I called my Doc with test results and as she is swamped and can't see me for about 3 weeks she called in Septra DS 800-160. This is my 3rd day and I can say I feel somewhat better. However, after lunch here comes that left sided gas pain with some lingering discomfort. Dom't know what to think with so many similiar symptoms in the past. I'm avoiding a CT scan if at all possible because of the cost. My deductible this year under affordable care act is $4,300 just for me before insurance kicks in and I'm already 1,300.00 in dept for a trip to emergency room in January for chest pain. I am fine there but ended up on nexium for month and half now. It's working well.

These doctors and their damn antibiotics. Unless you know for sure that you have a bacterial infection DO NOT take antibiotics. they will end up causing more harm than good. if you must take them, you need to take strong probiotics as well.
Antibiotics kill all the bacteria in your body, even the good ones that you need that keep your gut flora balanced.
IBS also isn't a real diagnosis. Its a blanket term used when they dont know exactly what the problem is.
If you don't take probiotics, id suggest you start. The good ones arent cheap, but they work better. Find one that has at least 7 strains of good bacteria and more than 10 billion live cultures. This should help.
You can also try some digestive enzymes, as a lot of IBS can just be trouble digesting certain foods. Most of which are dairy, gluten, coffee, fried foods, and highly processed foods.

any health food store like a whole foods, fairway, gnc, etc. Best brands are the ones that dont have any gmo bs in them like Garden of Life brand. You can find it on Amazon too.
1 billion count is basically nothing. for someone with any type of digestive disorder you definitely need something stronger.
But beware of the stronger ones too. they take some getting used to and may cause some cramping. Its best to either take 30 minutes before breakfast, or right before you go to sleep. If I notice any "side effects" I take it at night so im asleep and dont notice.
For you, there is one from Garden of Life called Colon Care, that may be the way to go. I'd link it, but they dont let you do that on this site. so just search for it on amazon.
And F antibiotics. try seeing a holistic dr and theyll never prescribe them to you because they do more harm than good.

Thanks, you are right about antibiotics. I hate them. I just went to the doctor this morning (had to beg to see anyone who would take me) because I'm so sick from the Septra. I took four days of the seven day course and I starting getting very sick yesterday. Nasty things going on along with left side colon pain. I do take acidophilus & pectin from Swanson 1billion viable organisms (I never really knew what that meant). I've always taken acidophilus but double up when on antibiotics. Where do I even find the kind of probiotics you suggest. Could you name a brand?
