Treatment for Crohn's plus Gastroparesis & Haital Hernia

I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in February after being hospitalized in August 07 for a flare (I thought I was dehdydrated from breastfeeding our baby). Drs said I had been ignoring symptoms for years - I had always thought they were hormone-related. I am 38, relatively healthy, and now my body is falling apart. After 4 scopes (upper and lower) the Crohn's is "in remission," but as I was/am persistently nauseated and slowly losing weight, they ran more tests and found a severe haital hernia and very severe gastroparesis. Months later now, I have tried Reglan (caused me to lactate - enough to solve world hunger), Erythromicin (sp??), and now Domperidone. I take Zofran daily as well as Prevacid, a probiotic, and vitamins. My family wants to know what is next - if this drug does not work, what will they do? I also see a correlation between my Crohn's symptoms (specifically joint pain and loose bms) and my menstrual cycle and was wondering if a hysterectomy would help all the way around! I have four young children and do not want to be an invalid or complainer....Thanks.

I too have noticed my crohn's flares up worse around my menstrual cycle. Did you ever find out if there was a correlation and if a hysterectomy would help? It seems they both make eachother worse!

I also have gastroparesis - but your husband's problem sounds more like a story I saw on "mystery diagnosis" (a show on tv) - I AM NOT A DOCTOR...NOR AM I A NURSE - but there was a girl on the show with the same exact symptoms as your husband - they would treat her in the hospital when she had her vomiting and then send her home once it stopped - but once home, it would start all over again - and forgive me for not remembering exactly what the problem was, but it had to do with a duct or flap in the small intestine that stopped working. It is very rare and therefore missed alot by doctors until months and months of treatment does not work. I know there is a small camera pill that he can be given to give doctors a better view of the ENTIRE small intestine since colonoscopy and endoscopy do not show the entire small intestine.  Hope this helps.

im wondering if my husband has the same problem as you. one day he started vomiting and having the shakes and he went to  a hospital and they said he has gastroparesis and put him on reglan but he still has times where he throws up and cant stop so we arnt sure what is wrong with him and the doctors just keep sending him home when he stops vomiting but then like a week later hes having problems again.
