Very strange stringy stools

Hey, I've had problems with my bowels for many years & never had i diagnosis..
Today I found a big clump of yellow stringy/straw type things in my stools. I've considered foods I've eaten and it doesn't look like something u would eat. It's about 2 inches long, yellow, 3mm wide & very tough. It's quite hard to snap. I always have pain in my lower right abs & am struggling to empty my bowels. What is it and could it be causing some sort of blockage? is it possible that it could have been in my system for years??

Eat more cheese.  I used to have the acid butt leak from HELL!  My doctor suggested that I eat more cheese and bananas.  I now have wonderful firm, not hard, turds.

Have you ever been evaluated for possible Crohn's Disease?
I can not have colonoscopies without general anesthetic. If your doctor won't do that for you, ask for a medicine they refer to as Mother's milk, it is very effective at getting you out of it and the pain won't interfere with the test.
Hope you get some answers soon.

It was only a local anesthetic, the nurses couldn't get my vain, then thought they had and ended up pumping in 4 doses but as it wasn't going into my vains it didn't work at all. I watched the images on the t.v but it was awful. It was very traumatic and I don't think I could mentally bring myself to go through that.
I might make an app. with the docs to be refered again, I suppose it's just the fear of disappointment again and again.
I guess I can't ignore it if I'm going to appointments...hhmmm.

Well,

sorry to hear about the trouble with the anesthesia used to cause you to wake up during your colonoscopy. Was there an actual anesthesiologist involved during the procedure?
Well, a colonoscopy reveals so much information and is a great tool to help determine trouble. Even if nothing is seen or found, small tissues can be taken to be biopsied to better help diagnose something that can't be seen or felt.

You should have the Doctor (anesthesiologist) give you a different medication for the procedure. One that will definitely put you under enough to complete this process! Stool samples, CT scans and MRI's can only detect so much info about bowel issues. Colonoscopies are NOT pleasant to think about having done, but so effective when all else fails. You should consider trying it again.

Hi, I've done the whole gastro thing, I did have a colonoscopy but the sedation didn't work and i was in so much pain they had to stop, they only got a little way round, I've had ultrasounds, many consultations and a small barium meal....all showed nothing. I was hospitalised a few times & was off work seriously ill for 6 months. This was a few years ago and since I can cope with it I just try to ignore it, I just don't want to keep visiting hospitals, etc.
Really really don't want another colonoscopy again, it was the worst pain ive ever experienced!!
Do you think there are any other effective tests?
I also had stool tests which just showed a few food allergies.
Any thoughts?

Hi,

That is very unusual indeed. I sure hope there isn't any serious bleeding from passing such oblong hard substances. If you have had bowel troubles for so long, I would strongly advise that you get a referral to a Gastroenterologist. He will probably want to do a Colonscopy to make sure you don't have some type of fissures, blockage or polyps.

It is embarrassing a little, but that is nothing compared to the value of your life and misery from all of the symptoms for so long!

Good Luck
