diarrhea

I had my gallbladder out back in September and I thought I was one of the lucky ones that did not experience diarrhea except for about 3 days.  It all settled down UNTIL about 8 days ago............i have had chronic diarrhea since then.  I am currently taking Immodium AD but it doesn't seem to help. I do not experience any horrible gas pains, just LOTS of excess gas and the diarrhea ranging anywhere from 3 to 8 times a day, depending on the day, no fever, vomiting, etc.  Can you develop chronic diarrhea several months AFTER having your gallbladder out?

Hi Kathy - Just read your post. I had my gall bladder out over 15 years ago, and for the 1st 5 years suffered with terrible diarrhea everyday. I accidentally found a miracle that has helped my digestion tremendously. I started taking Multi-digestive enzymes with pro-biotics as a health supplement ( I was very into weight lifting and cardio) and noticed that for the first time in years I was having normal bowel movements and the bloated, distended feeling in my stomach was gone. I also noticed less mucus in my nasal passages and less of a morning cough. Since I started taking enzymes 10 years ago, I have not had a head cold or flu. (I did have one bout with severe stomach flu that knocked out my entire family for a week, but other than that one illness - I have been the only one in my family to not catch colds or flus.

There are lots of different variations of enzymes on the market and I have tried quite a few until I found one that seemd to work best for me. GNC makes a good brand - but they are rather expensive. I am currenlty buying my enzymes at walmart - Spring Valley brand (only $7.00 for a 200 tablet bottle). I really hope you try the enzymes - and I hope they help you as much as they have helped me. Best Wishes
-Cathy

Thanks for the response, I have already been on a lowfat diet, only "splurging" once in a while and it doesn't seem to make any difference so far but guess it could be even worse if I wasn't eating mostly lowfat.....thanks

Yes, it can happen due to unregulated release of bile. You may want to consider following a low fat diet to see if that can help to regulate what's going on.
