jejunostomy tube feeding

If a patient has a jejunostomy and is being fed continuous artifital nutrition, should placement be checked and should residual be checked?

It seems like it would only be checked if there is suspicion of malpositioning or clogging of the tube. Crushed pills should never go through a jejunal tube. The pts meds should be switched to liquid form.
