What can I eat when my doctor said no solid foods due to gastroenteritis?

My doctor diagnosed me with gastroenteritis and told me I could not have solid foods. What can I eat?

Here's a list I found -

Ice cream may be too much if you are having stomach issues. Start easy - I agree with the "go with bland" advice.

Give your doctor a call, too - he may have a list for you.

Oh boy, that stinks. I've had gastroenteritis. I went on the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, apple sauce and toast).  What about broth like chicken noodle soup, you eat the broth?  Smoothie?  If you are recovering, start back on food slowly.  Most important thing is hydration. Drink a lot of fluids. Food can come back slowly and we are fine. But we have to stay hydrated. Go with bland.
