If you are not able to see a doctor, then do steam inhalations. This will help to clear the sinus congestion as well as loosen any congestion or mucus in your lungs.
You could also buy fairly cheaply some nasal spray. This helps to decongest the sinuses.
You can do the steam inhalations on its own, or add some Vick or Olbas oil into the hot water. Cover your had and bowl with a towel as you lean over the steam and breath in and out. Do this every day until you start to feel better.
Best wishes.
That's the problem though. I really wish I could see a dr but I cant because i have absolutely no money to til i start my job but i dont know how i can work when i feel so horrible and from what I have read online a sinus infection this bad will not go away without the help of a dr.
It's not serious enough that I should go to the hospital is it? That's what I'm worried about. That its serious and when it finally gets too bad I see a dr but it will be too late. And who knows.
I think that you were meant to send your question to EmperorV who mentioned the WebMD symptom checker.
I suggest you read my reply to emilydharris94 again, where you will see that I am suggesting she goes back to see her doctor for further evaluation as the condition has gone on too long.
With viral and bacterial infections these can start off in the sinuses and spread downwards as well as causing congestion and post nasal drip. The doctor who carried out the examination had said he thought it was due to a sinus problem. As the condition has not improved with the course of antibiotics, but is now affecting the lungs and breathing, then only by a doctor's evaluation of all the symptoms will establish what the exact problem is.
So sorry but Jemma, could you tell us where this symptom checker is, as it says it is coming soon! The worry If one has 5-50 symptoms, it may potentially list a never ending host of "possible" diseases, ilments, etc. And render "some" people, excessively worried could be a positive or a negative! I mean, unless it takes online personal blood tests, etc.......! But despite that, I would love for us both to check it out, please tell! Thanks hun! Hopefully this will work for Emily, esp. In Country, etc...? (assuming as I have only spoke with US citzens thus far?) that doesn't have doctor or benefits at all! But I would not take a "symptom checker" to be end all or in place of practitioner but nonetheless would like to inspect it!
Oh WOW, Sorry you need to seek medical treatment as this could be many, many things! I honestly think it is not due to sinus infection and should really be seen by a "professional!" Better now than later! hope all is well and best wishes!
You need to get back to your doctor. Either you were not given enough antibiotics or not the right antibiotics. There are different antibiotics and the doctor will prescribe which one he thinks will work.
Only by having the mucus analysed for the bacteria that is causing your problem would the doctor know which antibiotic would kill it off.
If you have a viral problem, then no antibiotic will help.
You still need to go back to your doctor so that he can listen to your lungs, and may send you for an xray of your lungs. The doctor may also do a lung function test to see if you have asthma. It is a matter of breathing into a tube that measures the strength of your exhaled breath - Peak Flow Meter. If your peak flow is very low, the doctor will prescribe you with inhalers for this.
At home you can do steam inhalations to help to loosen up any mucus and allow you to cough it up. Get a bowl of hot water with vick or olbas oil and bend over the bowl with your head and bowl covered with a towel and breathe in the steam. Take care not to get scalded.
I had to do this today, to help unblock the congestion in my ear as I have a blocked eustation tube and my nasal spray and ear drops have not cleared it up. The inhalation did help.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
You may wish to consult this with your doctor in the general hospital or you can check WebMD symptom checker to see what you may have and how to treat it yourself.
I suggest the doctor first.
