DVT after sleeping on arm?

I know this might sound crazy, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask in case anyone has some insight.

A couple of nights ago I rolled over onto my right arm during the night. I slept in a pretty awkward position for several hours. I was lying on my stomach with my right arm stuck straight underneath my body so that the back of my hand was between my thighs and against the mattress, and the inside part of my elbow was under my chest.

It's not uncommon for me to fall asleep on a body part and wake up to a numb limb until the sensation rushes back. However, this was the worst numbness I have ever felt.

Since then I have had a dull pain on the inside part of my elbow where I must have been crushing my arm. Sometimes I also feel pain on the outside part of my shoulder. I don't notice any swelling or discoloration; it's just the internal pain.

Is there any risk of developing a blood clot in this scenario? From what I've read, most arm clots are a result of surgery, catheter, or IV. It also sounds like when a limb goes asleep it's a result of temporary nerve damage, not a lack of blood flow. However, I've never had a limb falling asleep lead to lasting pain, and I was a bit concerned due to the location of the pain in the inner elbow where most of the veins/arteries run (it's right in the spot where a phlebotomist would draw blood). So any chance this is a clot, or did I just injure the nerve?

I think you will be fine because I have had the same problems before. Sometimes I would tend to sleep on a body part like my wrist, one night  i was sleeping with my hand under my head bent inwards. I was sleepin on it for a pretty long time. I woke up in the middle of the night feeling no kind of sensation in my wrist and as it started to come back it was very painful. My wrist was in pain for like a day or two.

I would say no. We have the "funny bone" which is actualy a nerve and I it gets hit wrong it can and will hurt if it does do that. Also you could have a pinched nerve. Which isn't a big deal other than it can get worse and hurt. My best suggestion is a chiropractor. I don't think it would be a clot. But I wish you the best

You probably are suffering from nerve compression, or pressure on a nerve supplying your hand or arm. This can be as simple as, if you were leaning an your elbow for too long, you can put pressure on your ulnar nerve.
