Mirena

I got my mirena removed FINALLY!! Took 2 years to get it out!!! Most doctors just said that I had to wait the full 5 years. I had it for 4! So happy to have it out. Does anyone know when I should start my periods again? When pregnancy is an option? Just curious!

Hi there,
Fertility is restored very soon after mirena removal. Almost 80% of women may conceive within 12 months after removal of Mirena. After removal, the contraceptive effect is immediately reversed. The response may vary in every woman. In few women periods may start right away while in others it may take 2-3 months to normalize due to hormonal fluctuations. If you do not get your periods in couple of months seek medical help. I hope it helps.
Take care and regards!
