hey,my husband had it on the right side of his face he can take pretty much any pain that comes at him so he was fine there...but after 2wks of begging him to go to the doctor he finally got on the antibiodic.you HAVE TO HAVE THAT ANTIBIODIC or it will not go away!!......after he finally got rid of it bout maybe 2months later,he has a few scars, now its been 1yr ago and to this day if he gets irritated that right side will tingle he says.and some areas are still numb but other areas are still really tender to just touch...

So sorry you have shingles!  I only had one "pimple" with shingles - but the pain is excruciating!!  They evidently were on the inside.  Poor you!  Aleve was the only thing that worked for me - 500 mg. every five hours.  I wasn't able to take Acyclovir as I discovered the shingles too late - hard to diagnose with only one pimple.  Anyway the doctors call the pain "exquisite" as it seems to be the worse pain there is bar none.  Shingles can last a short or long time... sorry.  There is no way to tell how long.  And afterwards there is post-herpatic pain.  Meaning there remains a dull ache where you had the shingles.  Gabapentin sometimes helps with that type of pain as it is a nerve pain. - Do ice packs help your head?  I hope you get well soon.  I really feel for you.

Try taking Advil and then 2 hours later take Tylenol and keep the cycle going.  This is how my husband deals with shingles when he gets it.  He says it helps, not a cure but definitely better.  Hope this helps
