Why do I fall face first repeatedly while walking for no apparent reason?

I'm a woman in early 40s with an otherwise healthy state and no known medical condition. However, over the last year, I've fallen down 8 times while walking. Each time it has been for no apparent reason and have fallen face first.

Every time I take the fall on my lips/chin/jaw and sustain serious injuries like displaced jaw, broken tooth, stitched up lips. This has become scary now. I just fall and my body doesn't react to protect me - no cushioning by hands, no turning away of face, no other leg, or anything else.

Have consulted GP and Neuro specialists, but no diagnosis so far. No other symptoms at the time of fall like a black out. Just the smallest of tripping or loss of balance, and it's face down.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

My mother told me that my grandmother fell over and didn't do anything to protect herself. It was one of her first symptoms of her brain tumour (which she died from). I hope that isn't the cause of your symptoms but a brain MRI would be worth having done.
