Several Issues

I am 53 years old and some what active.  I have several issues that I feel only would not cause me any concerns but, happening all at the same time cause me to ask questions.
Cramps in legs, more so in calf of both legs, but worse in left leg.  Cramps in both feet and all toes, at times causing the toes to curl under, mostly the two toes just next to the big toe. Cramps in the instep area also.  Heat will sometimes help, the legs feel cold and achy.
My wrists ache more than usual.
My hair is very dry and brittle, which it never has been and the texture and nature has changed. (was very curly now just frizzy)
The sking under all my fingernails starting at the nail bed has a very light fleshy color and as it nears the end of the finder has a red line that turns even a deeper red as the nail extends beyond the end of the finger.  The end of the nail is white.  The ring fingernails are flat and the middle fingernails are flat to start with and then turn under in a wavy motion. The pointer fingerails have begun to get a small wave to them in the last few weeks.
I have Hypothyroidism that is being treated and according to my last blood work 8/25/08 is FT4 - AL 0.74ng/dl (0.70-1.55 ng/dl)  and TSH-AK 0.53 uIU/ml (0.25-5.01 uIU/ml). armour Thyroid
I also have Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue which I have under control with, trazodone, cyclobenzaprine, Topamax
I have high trigylcerides which is being treated with Tricor. My last Cholestrol test was in 2006, trigy. 67 (<150 MG/DL)
Cholestrerol total 179 (or= 40 MG/DL), LDL 95 (<150 MG/DL)  Ratio 2.5 (<4.4 calc)
I also have a lot of allergies and asthma which are treated and mostly under control.
Can you help me with this?

Dont mean to sound flipant as you are having a struggle, but you are taking a few strong  Meds, ask if any of them are reacting with each other or any one of them could affect you giving you cramps and the Hair problem, I have had meds in the past and they have had adverse affects on me, maybe worth checking out. Even the Pharamcy can tell you the side effects of them.

Thank you for all your comments and help.  I think I will contact my doctor and get a Cholestrerol test since it was 2006 when I had my last one.  I will talk with him then about these other things and see if he feels I need to have other testing.

your hdl looks very good. and your on potassium. do you think they need to increase your thyroid meds? and have they checked you for arthritis? low thyroid can cause many problems as you already know and hairloss is one of them. are you taking a good multivitamin? 53 is not old at all. keep after your dr. about what's going on. i would ask them to check your legs for p.a.d just to be safe. of course that would'nt be the problem with your wrists, still it would'nt hurt to check your legs for that. let me know how your doing and take care. thanks for the response.  hdl is 71 (>)R = 40 MG/DL)  I am on potassium and the blood work showed it as 4.3mmol/L (3.5-5.2) which should mean that is fine.  My concern is add all these issues together is there some other underlying undiagnosed issue.  If they didn't all seem to come on within the last couple of months and rather than get better other issues arise to add to it, I would not be concerned.  I know getting older you have everyday things that after a few days and sometimes weeks they will work themselves out.  The cramps in my legs and feet have been going on for 3 or 4 months now, the hair for about the last 2 to 3 months and the fingernails within the last 3 to 4 days.

I don't want to be an alarmist and that is why I haven't called the doctor.  I just wanted to see if anyone else with some of my other diagnosed issues have had these same issues and what did they have to do, if anything.

to me your cholesterol is not bad at all. triglycerides should be under 150. total under 200, ldl under 100, your ratio under 5.00. the lower you ratio the less chance of a heart attack. it sounds like your low on potassium, that might be causing the cramps. what is your hdl, good cholesterol? take care.
