This will tell you all you need to know. :-) Blessings - Blu
As you are having reoccurring problems with the Bartholin gland, ask your doctor to refer you to a gynaecologist.
For now, you should see your doctor for a prescription of antibiotics to get rid of any infection. If the abscess has not come to a head yet, soak in a hot bath to help it come to a head. If the abscess keeps flaring up, it is likely that the root had not been removed or there is a blockage of the gland itself. If any abscess root is left, will just flare up again.
Marsupialisation is a small operation that is the traditional treatment used to treat a Bartholin's cyst or abscess. This operation creates a small new permanent opening for fluid to drain out of the gland.
It may be done under general anaesthetic or local anaesthetic.
If the abscess has no open openings on the skin, you can try applying magnesium sulphate which is drawing ointment that you can get from the pharmacist.
Best wishes.
