Very PainfulFeet

I have extremely sore feet that hurt all the time. Even when I first get up in the morning. This started a few months ago and my dr told me that I have sore feet because I gained weight after stopping smoking. I did gain a little but not that much. I can't even describe the pain. It's a shooting burning type pain. In the morning when I get up and start walking it feels like every bone in my feet (top and bottom) are broken. The pain subsides a little with walking but as the day goes on it just gets worse. No matter what shoes I wear either, makes no difference between the strappy sandels or the Dr Scholls with built in gel cushions. I have a slightly enlarged heart and am taking meds for that but nothing with any side affects like this. Does anyone have any Ideas about what this could be?

Thank you for your comment I will talk to my MD. At least it's a place to start. Again thank you.

Yup. You need to have an hbcA1c test taken by your physician. This measures the glucose level in your blood for the last three months. Your symptoms are characteristic of diabetic neuropathy. Not a typical presentation, to be sure, but close enough for government work.  Reducing weight, medications such as Metformin and alpha lipoic acide (available at health food stores) can help with reversal. Once again, this is only one of several possible etiologies, but one that can easily be confirmed, and should be investigated.
