Sorry to hear that your soon to be wife is having this problem.
I would suggest that she makes an appointment to see her doctor to have her blood pressure checked, blood tests taken for any blood disorders like anaemia and anything else the doctor may suspect.
I do not know how it works where you live, but in the UK we get referred to a specialist. She really needs to be seen by an Ears Nose and Throat specialist.
Unfortunately there is no cure for ringing in the ears. This is called Tinnitus. There is a condition called Meniere's Disease and this will cause severe dizziness. The specialist would be able to do the appropriate tests to find out if this is the problem. The inner ear has the mechanism that controls balance.
As your wife to be is taking medications for her back, it could also be that the problem of dizziness is to do with arthritis in her neck. And the doctor would be able to find out if this was so by examining her and/or refer her to a bone specialist or arrange for xrays or other imaging to be taken of the neck area.
If there is any narrowing in the neck area, this too can cause a lot of pressure and feelings of dizziness. Tell her to get up extremely slowly and hold her head straight.
The doctor would also be able to check for any ear or throat infections. Having congestion of the sinuses can also cause a feeling of pressure in the head. If this is the case doing a steam inhalation would help to loosen up the mucus. Boil up a kettle full of water and pour this, taking care not to get scalded, into a bowl of water. Add some Vick or Olbas oil. Bend the head over the hot water and cover the head and the bowl with a towel. Breathe in the steam for 10 minutes. Do this 4 times a day for a duration of 4 times a day.
Stress, anxiety and depression too can cause a feeling of pressure in the head. Relaxation and breathing techniques will help. Getting married is very stressful with all the preparations and organisation that needs to be done.
Hope all goes well.
Let me know how things go.
Best wishes.
you really need to go to see your doctor. if you don't have a doctor. you can just go to the hospital or clinic. I would prefer the hospital they have every kind of equipment to check out everything. is it any better? good luck I will say prayers for you and I will think about you, mandy876
hi there all
i am writing not for myself but for my soon to be wife in 2 weeks actually. she is just out of her mind with this pressure in her head and ears ringing went to have a check to see if it was virtago which is what she was told it was for the first few years however now the systoms are far worse. this poor girl just goes to stand up and has to hold on to something to brace herself or she would likely fall over. she discribes the feeling as not a headache but pressure beyond most anything that she has felt before nothing seems to give her relief she does have pain meds for her back but that doesnt seem to help either she also takes xanix for some anxity and trouble sleeping which brings me to she isnt sleeping at night either because she cant get comfy. just frusterated wanting to help her and i cant. she doesnt want to go to the er because she doesnt believe that they will find anything to give her any relief
please let us know if you find anything to help her.
Something completely weird that works for some people. Put a bar of soap (except for Dove or Olay) at your feet when you go to bed. For some reason it stops cramps in the feet and ankles.
Yeah, it's weird - but what have you got to lose? It might even work for you - something about the lye and other properties in the soap. (I even saw soap slivers in a little bag advertized in a catalog for this purpose!)
I have DDD (Degenerative Disc Disease) and have one disc left. However, I take Essiac and it seems to help me a lot. - When i saw my orthopedist she was surprised that I was walking around with so many back problems.
I also take Grapeseed which has helped immensely with bone spurs and my asthma.
Drs get miffed when I reject their pain meds - but I do better with turmeric and curcumin, Essiac and grapeseed.
Don't get me wrong - when the pain becomes unbearable, I will take a Naproxen.
Hope you get to feeling better!
Thanks Silverfox,
We owned a vitamin store until the economy forced us to close last year so when I go to chiropractor I tell them all the vitamins I take and they never say anything about it...so I never know what they think.
You are so right about magnesium...also I am getting these cramps and take some more magnesium and they go away. I also take more electrolytes to balance and still getting cramps in ankles..so weird..never had that before now only "charleyhorses" once in awhile:)
Appreciate your reply..thanks again!!
Thanks, Jemma! Blood pressure strange, goes low to high so Doctor not sure yet. For right now until we discover why, the vitamin drinks may be a factor but doctor feels it may be coming from the neck area so you could be right on about the cervical neck. Doctor checked throat. Infection not there and sinus area clear, no head cold. Doctor checked neck, I have disc problem I go to chiropractor for but now Doc thinks there is something else wrong besides that in the neck area.
I do take vitamins, used to own a Vitamin Store that we lost last year due to the economy..had blood test and came out Normal especially on vitamin levels:)
Thanks for your reply!! Feels great talking with you all after trying so long to keep it quiet!!
Thanks about your info on cervical neck, you are so right...Doctor says that she wants me to go for Cervical Spine MRI also to check out this neck!!
Hi Mandy, Thanks so much for your concern! So far only thing I take is Ibuprofen for pain, use heat and ice on neck and hot baths which seem to help. I also drink a sports drink with vitamins that create oxygen which helps head pressure for a few hours.
Just had brain and brainstem mri and waiting for results. Have fingers crossed that I get answer but a "good" answer :)
Now started having burning patches on skin...figure that must be inflammation, they burn for 3-4 days and then just clear up! Strange...
I think u r right that it may be several different conditions at once!
Thanks again for your reply!!
Are you taking any supplements or vitamins? A lack of magnesium can cause at least half of your symptoms.
I am surprised that your chiropractor didn't suggest vitamins or minerals.... mine did.
You need to see your doctor to check that your ears are fine.
As you are aware you can get pressure in the head if your blood pressure is too high and also too low. And that needs to be checked out and monitored.
If you have a head cold and your head and sinuses are full of congestion that can feel like a lot of pressure in there too and will also affect your hearing. An infection on the ear drum will make noises sound weird.
Pressure in your head can also be from cervical (neck) problems. This can make you feel dizzy as will having an ear infection.
As you are coughing it is likely that you may have a viral or bacterial infection. The doctor can check you out by looking at your ears, throat and listening to your chest.
You may find that steam inhalations may help. Or a nasal spray to dry up any congestion that press on the ears from the eusstation tube side and also cause post nasal drip causing the coughing.
Best wishes.
sounds like you might have several problems. the MRI should help clear up your problems. has your blood pressure been checked? what tyope of medicines do your take some pills can make you dizzy and have buzzing in your head. migraine head aches will be more intense with loud noises. I hope your MRI tells what you need to know. do let us know if they don't find anything go to another doctor there is a problem and it needs to be solved. mandy876
