What to do about a cigarette burn inside the ear?

My friend had a lit cigarette stuck in their ear a few hours ago, which they've said is very painful and has swollen up so much that they can't even fit their pinky finger in their ear. I'm not yet sure if they'll able to go and seek proper medical attention due to their home circumstances, and I haven't been able to find any information on how to treat burns within the ear. They're applying a cold pack (through a towel) to the burn, and I don't think they have or have applied any sorts of creams or lotions to it. Apparently the swelling has gone down, however I'm still worried for them and the possibility that the burn could get worse if not treated properly. If anybody has any advice on what to do in terms of home remedies, I would be very very grateful to hear them. Of course the best option would be to go to the ER, but as mentioned, I am not sure if thats a possibility.

Hello~I agree with the above poster. I think it is very important to have this burn checked by a doctor, and if it was done by abuse, then that needs to be looked into as well.

This article has a good list of do's and don'ts when it comes to treating burns: https://www.healthline.com/health/home-remedies-for-burns

Is the burn on the surface of the skin in the ear, or was the cigarette inserted into the ear canal?

To be honest, the vibe I'm getting from your post is that the person this happened to is being subjected to physical abuse.  It is not often that a cigarette is accidentally put into someone's ear, whether it's the person smoking the cigarette or someone else.  I hope that's not the case, but if so, we'd be happy to help with resources to get your friend out of that situation.
