A young friend of mine dropped a bag of frozen peas on her foot that caused her pain that did not go away.  She had it xrayed that did show a break.

I recently dropped a knife display board full of knives on my big toe.  Although the toe nail turned purple it didn't fall off because I put Arnica salve from Walgreens on it.

My toe nail is still dark purple - but I still have it! :)

If you have natural yogurt you can apply that to your toe and lots of it.
Otherwise apply a cold compresses and lightly cover the food with a cloth or bandage and elevate your foot.

Go to the ER and get your toe xrayed when the hospital is open, to see if you have broken the toe.  With broken toes they are usually strapped to the next toe.

Le me know how you get on.
Best wishes.
