brown vomit a week after a perforated bowel surgery. whats the meaning of that?

it all started 2 weeks ago when my mum all of a sudden started complaining of a stomachache. she was sweating heavy and crying heavy due to the pain. i rushed her to the hospital, due to the poor health services in my Country (Africa) she was attended by a doctor on the next day. After giving her an X ray scan, the doctor told us that my mum was costipated due to inflammation of the intestines and hence he recomended a surgery to remove the waste in the intestines. Again, due to the poor services in my country, it took 3 days before the surgery could  take place. On the third day, my mum had a swollen stomach, complained of stamach pains and she had problems breathing and she was sweating heavily, in short, she was not in good condition. luckily enough, the doctors operated on her. The doctor told us that the surgery was succesful and that they had found that my mum had a perforation in the stomach. The day after the surgery my mum was not feeling well, i remember going to visit her in the HDU and i found her grasping for air that she could not even notice that i was there. The doctor told me that my mum needed to be on an oxygen machine but all the machines where already occupied. a day later she was sent to the ICU where she was put on an oxygen machine. after putting her on the oxygen machine her a condition improved a little but still, its like she has deverloped a new set of problems which include, high blood pressure, shortness of breath and ever since she started eating a few days later she has been vomiting brown substance. Today, the doctor has told me that she has pnemonia. Is this normal or maybe the doctor is missing something? if not normal, what needs to be done? (forgive me for my english. this is a second language to me)
