I am so sorry. I can't imagine what you've been through. My Mom passed 2 months ago from cirrhosis. We watched her decline very fast. The liver is a filter; when that goes, the entire body shuts down despite any medical intervention. Times have changed since the 80s, but it hasn't been perfected.
Medically, my Mother's main portal vein was damaged because the liver had scarring. Nobby in texture, if you will. The spleen trapped platelets, and she developed varicose veins in her esophagus. She was a bleed risk. Cirhossis is a painful, torturous death. I'm determined to take better care of myself so I don't experience that.
Regarding your sobriety, I encourage you to think about what your Mom would want for you. I'm sure she would want you to live a long, healthy and happy life. Take charge of your life. Make it a good one. Also, what has been a big part of my life is God. Without Jesus, I am nothing.
Your life doesn't have to be the way it has been. You have the opportunity to break that generational curse. I'm always here if you want to talk, or pray. As I lift you in prayer, know you are loved, appreciated and Jesus loves you.
