My heart goes out to you and your friend and her family. Sadly you really do need to wait for the results. Even if it was meningitis, the results will not make the loss any less devestating. My daughter survived meningitis and I can not tell how I thank god everyday for letting us keep her. So I will keep you friends little girl in my prayers.

I have to correct myself - it isn't only the membrane around the brain that is inflamed, it is the membranes around the CNS (meninges), hence the name meningitis...

Hi Sheila

Blessed be the memory of this little girl... I can't imagine the shock.

Meningitis is an inflammation of the membranes around the brian, but wait for the tests to come back. Let the cause of death be figured only by those who can. The wait is maybe long but the wait here gives you answers that are correct.

There are a few forms of this inflammation, and they will find out what it was.

Hang in there Sheila - the answers will come.
