DR. HHH are my test results accurate?

On April 9,  I had a high risk unprotected sexual encounter with someone whose been living with hiv for twenty years. Following that exsposure I tested myself several times with the oralquick, once with a finger stick at ten ten weeks, a home access at 15 weeks, and month 4, 5, and 6 with the oraquick all negative. During the window period I would get these strange fevers on and off, following nights sweats, rash, sores in my mouth, dry cough, and weight lost more than 20lbs in one month without dieting. Base on the information that i have provided, can i be confident that I didn't acquire Hiv back in April. My last test was November 6 and it was negative.

Your 10 week finger prick test was good enough to be conclusive with the sensitivity of today's tests.  Even Oraquick.  Additionally, all of your other tests(though not warranted) only confirm your negative status.

Keep in mind odds of a single exposure even with a known HIV+ partner resulting in infection are about 1-2000.  Other studies suggest about 4 cases of infection for every 10,000 exposures.

HIV is not your problem.  I would recommend testing for all other STI's.  But aside from that you can put HIV fears behind you.  Start using condoms to keep yourself negative.

Take care.

Listen my friend,

Millions of people like you around the world go through the same problems everyday. Do not torture yourself.
1. If you feel you have had a risk, get tested.
2. You  are without a doubt negative (your test's prove it).
3. Having HIV is a treatable condition and many , many  people are living with the condition and leading
normal life's. It is not the end the world.
4. Find a friend or someone you trust to talk about your concern's (people are not as judgemental as you may think).
5. Learn from this and then you can understand and help other people in a similar position.
6.Get some sleep and stop worrying. Thing's always work out for the best.

All the best Sharkboy67.

This has been a nightmare for me. I've notice sores appearing on my hands that look like warts which been there after several months and has not healed . I've been to the doctor and was told to return in December. I was diagnosed with dermatitis. All of which these unusual appearances happened after the encounter. What really bothered me was the fevers, night sweats, the loss of appetite, trush, rapid weight loss, and the sores on my hands and inside my mouth . I've been monitoring my hiv status every month since April. I really ready to put this behind me . Can someone please help me !

Dr HHH is on the expert forum, which is not operating at the moment.

All the expert Dr's are missed and would be a great help to many of the people on this site at the moment.

Hi,

I don't know much about oralquick myself.

But from what I gather these tests are accurate at 3 months.

Considering the number you have taken and the long time period, I would take an educated guess and say you are negative.

Sorry I can't be more help than that.

All the best.
