Second test, yesterday; Negative! :)
Guess I came away with a blue eye.
Never ever unprotected receptive intercourse!
Hello Teak and Knickel,
thank you both very much!
I had my first DUO Test on Friday. (19.5 days post exposure) which turned out Negative. pheww!!
My MD (a STDi specialised private clinic in London) told me, that this Test at this point is not conclusive but a very good indicator. He reckons, that it should 85%-90% accurate. He also told me, that when I return this week Thursday (Day 25) the Test should be accurate to over 99.8%. I guess I can live with the 0.2 possibility up until the next check up.
Thanks guys and wish me luck for Thursday. :)
Clarification then..... Go for the HIV Ag P24 and "Antibody" test better known as a 'duo' or 'sandwhich' test that looks for HIV P24 antigen and HIV antibodies recomended at 28 days post exposure. Negative result here should be very encouraging but not conclusive. Second, repeat HIV Antibody test at three months to definitively exclude HIV infection. Have I got that right Teak??? Dont want confusion!
Don't be giving assessments, your advice was off the wall. HIV Ag p24 and Antigen test ??????
Hey Renejens!
Go for the HIV Ag p24 and Antigen test at 25 -30 days post exposure. My research shows that if you are positive very high % (over 80% I think) the test will identify it. Dont know what the nature of your exposure was though.
Most important. I got my test at 25 days and it came back negative. I was wohooing! Felt great and thought it was behind me. Even got back with my partner. Around the 65 day mark my lymph glands in groin went crazy and then a week later in my neck. I freaked out and going through all the anxiety again even though chnaces are very high that I am negative. Trust me, Teak is right. I am going for the 3 month test and trust all the many posts saying that at three months it will be conclusive and then really bury this whole thing. Let me know how you go.
Cheers Knickel
Hello Teak,
thank you for the Guideline.
Unfortunately it does not contain a lot on Information on Timelines at all. :((
They just talk about the 12 weeks for the POC tests.
:(

The need for a repeat HIV test if still within the window period after a specific exposure should be discussed. Although fourth generation tests shorten the time from exposure to seroconversion a repeat test at three months is still recommended to definitively exclude HIV infection.
Hi Knickel,
Thank you ever so much.
I will be buzzing to the test on the 23rd, hence the 25th day.
Let it be just 80% conclusive, thats better than getting crazy. :)
(That is hoping that everything is ok, but its now just over two weeks and no real signs of any primary infection yet.)
My specialist MD states that the Duo Test is conclusive at day 28. So maybe theres no need to wait for 3 month.

Read the information I gave you. Those are the people that write the guidelines.

Thank you for the Answer.
The page of my MD (Specialist for STDI's states, that the Duo-Test is conclusive after 28days)

I was just hopen it would be nearly accurate earlier. :(
I had a 28 day HIV Ag P24 and Antigen test 25 days post exposure. It is supposed to be very accurate but not conclusive. Some argue it is and others dont. My research shows it is but peice of mind at three months always good and better to know than not to. Totally get the anxiety as I wait to get my three month. Hang in there
