Hi guys, thank you for the excellent forum, I have learned so much from it!
5 months ago I had unprotected vaginal sex with a women I don’t know very well. It was a one night stand. After 1 day I visited my local Dr and she advised that I start with PEP as soon as possible as there is a possibility for HIV infection. She did a blood test and it was negative for HIV and all other std’s. About 33 hours after the unprotected sex I started with my 30 day PEP course. I finished the course. She said I must do another HIV test after 3 months to be sure the medication worked and I am not infected by HIV.
I did a at home rapid finger prick test, an approved one, exactly 12 weeks after I stopped taking the PEP medication. Thus I did the test 16 weeks after the unprotected encounter. The test was negative. I did send a picture to the manufacturer of the test to be sure it is negative. The next day I wanted to be sure my result is negative and I did another at home rapid finger prick test and again it was negative.
For some reason my HIV fears again arose today and I’m not sure what to do. Should I do another test? Should I maybe do a blood test? Or can I trust the 2 negative rapid finger prick tests I received? Please assist me
