Does this affect the HIV test?

Would being infected with staph bacteria on my skin (nose) affect my hiv antibody/antigen test? I did have a scare as I was drunk and couldn’t remember using protection for vaginal sex. I do have an on going staph infection when I decided to test for HIV after 5 months & it was negative thankfully. So would having this staph infection affect the results of my hiv test?? Would it affect my immune system and cause a false negative?

It's common to get nervous after an encounter and would say that getting so drunk that you fear you forget things is not a good or safe practice. I'd cut down on drinking. But since you had a condom and intended to use it, you probably did. Sounds like you would normally so even if drunk, you probably did. But in case you didn't? You test at 5 months negative and that's conclusive. And no a staph infection isn't going to interfere with the result.

So the test I took was CMIA antigen/antibody. It was not Elisa as most people suggest. Can I trust my CMIA test or do I have to take an ELISA?
Your test is conclusive, and you can move on from this event.  ANY test on the market is conclusive at 90 days post-event, at the latest.
