Dont know which test or prevention measure to Get.

Hi,

I'm a 27 year old guy. About 36 hours ago, I had anal sex with another guy. I am worried about any possible HIV and / or other STD infection.

So, let me provide you with a little detail on what happened. My partner was like a one time thing who I don't know very well. There was no oral involved, He tried using a condom for a little but said it was too tight and proceeded without the condom. He was probably in me for about 3-4 minutes, but that too not real deep or anything. From what I can tell, probably only the head of the penis was in me at any given time. At the end there was no ejaculation inside the body, he pulled out because we wanted to do something else.

I am worried for possible infections, that was the first time me having unprotected sex, and Oh never again.

I did some research online and some of them talked about the possibilities of PEP(Post Exposure Prophylaxis). I don't think the guy was HIV- positive, but I didn't ask that question beforehand.

I am just really confused, and would greatly appreciate your guidance on what I should be getting tested on / and or the options for PEP.

Thanks so much...

You had a high risk exposure and nPEP should be a consideration even though your not aware of his hiv status, if he has had unprotected anal sex with you he has very likely to have had it with someone else, you just don,t know.Go and see your doctor right away or make an appointment at the local STD clinic and discuss the nPEP option. You have up to 72 hours to begin taking nPEP.All the best.

rapid test can yield result in 10-15 mints, while lab based test you have to wait min 24hrs to 2 weeks

To ease your mind ask him to get tested now if he agree, yes ofcourse you needed test even he tested negative, he may infected recently and in window period

unprotected anal sex is risk for hiv, you had risk

PEP is only for whom had sex with known HIV+, firstly try to contact the guy you had sex, and take a rapid test

if he is + your call to take pep
