Will I be the first?

I had a exposure with a woman 25 days ago. It was condom protected, but the condom broke during the last 1-2 minutes. Leaving the head of my penis exposed for 2 minutes, 3 minutes MAX! I asked and she says shes been to the doctor, and got a screening 2 months ago. However, I just came down with a fever today. Its been holding between 100.8- and fluctuating at 100.4. Im now officially nervous, and I have not ran a fever since I was a child. Ive gotten sick, but no fever that I can recall. Im also short of breath, and have had some chest, and some neck pains that are coming and going. Headache as well. I finally took some Tylenol to try to break it.

Ive went through the threads day in and day out, and a heterosexual exposure first the first time is a low risk. Well, its a high risk, but it is said most dont become infected after the first time. No reported cases of infections after a condom broke, and my penis was not exposed very long. I keep screwing up, Im a married guy, and I should know better. Im stressed and have no where to turn.

2-4 weeks anywhere in that time frame, but you get more then just a fever and the fever would last 5-7 days and it would probably be 101+

Nursegirl, Ive read in the doctors forum, that most people who experience ARS(if they even experience ars) will do so on a average of 10-20 days. I experienced a fever at 26 days, however I read that ARS can appear 2-4 weeks post-exposure. Even still, that would put me on the late side. Do people often experience ARS this late, or is it around that 10-20 day average thats discussed in the doctors forum.

I also ran a 100.8 fever but is subsided to 100.4 without medicine. I took Tylenol and NyQuil at 8 last night, and the fever has not returned, and I have not took any medicine. I dont know if it broke, or dormant. had a little coughing as well this morning. but nothing more since.

you're right nursegirl. I think its very well time for me to change. 2 kids in my house have just been diagnosed with upper respiratory infections, but my symptoms dont sound like that. This is whats making me very nervous.

As you already know, the likelihood of you contracting HIV from that type of exposure is EXTREMELY low.  A DUO test in another couple of days (28 days post exposure) will be conclusive.

If you keep finding yourself in these anxiety producing situations, maybe it's time to do some serious thinking about your life?  Just a suggestion.  Maybe there are better options than what you're doing now.  Guilt and regret fuel most of the HIV related anxiety we see....sounds like that's the case with you also.
