HIV Question..

I have a question and it is driving me insane! About two months ago, I broke up with the only person I had ever had sex with. He had been STD tested before we had sex, I made sure of it. Well, after we broke up, I went wild, and had sex with another guy..Unprotected sex. He says that he was tested around Christmas and that he was clean..But, I am driving myself insane worrying about HIV! A few days after, I developed what I think was a common cold (itchy throat, runny nose, loss of voice, etc.)..Is that too early to have symptoms?
Tuesday of this past week, I went and got STD tested, but the results won't be in for over a week..Does anyone know the chances of getting HIV from heterosexual, non-drug using (I think), male from regular intercourse? I'm sure they are pretty low chances..But, I am driving myself insane worrying about it! Every time I look up potential symptoms, I think I have caught HIV. It has begun to control my every thought!

Hi ashbella,

I have to comment because I was in the same situation you are right now! It is a horrible thing to be going through. I broke up with my ex bf of five years and ended up getting drunk and having sex unprotected! Don't beat yourself up, we all make mistakes. How long has it been since this happened?? An antibody test (oraquick or orsure) taken six weeks or more after the encounter will give you a good indication of your status, but three months is absolutely conclusive. Hang in there, you will be okay!
