I went to a HIV wellness center for free std testing. Its a place where people who are HIV + come to for counseling, etc. I got a finger prick test there for HIV with the INSTI test which results was negative. This may be a far fetched question andbis probably just my anxiety, but I didnt see the CMA (certified medical assistant)take the items out for the test and I was concerned that can you catch HIV from the lancet that was used to prick my the finger or could I have caught it from the cotton swab that I swabed my mouth with or could I even catch something from the CMA that took my blood from the finger prick He had to squeeze my finger to get the blood in the pipette ad O noticed after I left that there was blood on the tip of my finger and not on the band aid where the prick site was. This could just be my anxiety but is there any chance I could be infected during the test and then need to be tested again? I called them and they stated they dont reuse lancets and everthing was clean and sanitary but on my mind you just never know. Should I worry and should I be retested?
