HIV question

I recently had a risky encounter, I had unprotected sex for a small brief amount of time with a female I have known for a few years, (not very well) we just know each other. I am a little freaked out about the situation and was concerned about HIV, I spoke to her and told her my concerns & she told me she was clean and 7 days after the encounter she went to get tested. She took the HIV 1/2 Ab, P24 ag test and was negative. I didn’t test because I read it would be way to soon to get an accurate result.
My question is should I be concerned, her results were negative and her last partner was many months ago and always protected. How accurate is that test? She’s been very honest about everything

If she always used a condom she can't have hiv. Condoms don't have micro tears or pinhole leaks either and only the head needs protection, so that is why the condom is always safe sex.
If you doubt her word about her  past usage of a condom, you can take a duo after 4 weeks for a conclusive result.

KayFa92,

From what you have written, I do not see any reason to doubt her. I think her test is likely accurate. If her last sexual encounter was months ago and knowing that HIV 1/2 Ab, p24 (4th gen) test is accurate in 95% of cases after 4 weeks, then her test is accurate.  Besides, if she always had protected sex, she was not at risk to begin with.

Also, remember that most people do not have HIV and though we obsess about it, majority of the people we encounter are not infected with HIV, having said that, it is better to always practice safe sex.

All the best.

Thank you. The reason I had doubts was because this was my first time being with her and it was unprotected, why would it be any different for someone else you know. But she did in fact call me when the results came in and I met her at the doc office and she showed me the actual results. The encounter has now been a little over 3 months & I went and did an at home Oraquick swab and was negative. I know not to trust that over a blood test but I hate needles lol. Her test was negative and mine was negative after 3 months. What do you think? Officially negative?
No worries for you, any test is conclusive after 3 months. (Your first post where you said the encounter was recent indicates to me that you are using outdated guidelines.) No need to test again.
Move on and enjoy your life.
I agree with AnxiousNoMore. There is no reason for further testing.

Take care and be safe.
