possible risk from iv user

I am a male who had unprotected vaginal sex a month and half ago. Which was a really stupid mistake!  But to top it off she told me she was an IV heroin user but been sober for a few months.  I ended up getting her number.....the next day I asked her if she is neg. for HIV and she got all mad at me for asking and was being very extrmely rude! So it freaked me out....long story short I got tested at the 4 week mark and was neg. for all STDS. and going to get tested again this week at the 6 weeks mark and conclusive at the 12th week mark....I do have a little pain in my groin left side area and my body feels hot from time to time......not going to judge by symptoms but it freaks me out.....HOW bad is my risk is it a high risk? And how accurate is a 4 week test compared to my 6 week elisa? But yes I will take my 3 month test.....I pray to god that I stay neg.

Hey! Just wanted to say I got my 6 weeks test results back and they were negative! it is a big relief for me bc the anxiety was killing me....but still going to get my 3 month conclusive. So another proof that even though u show some symptoms related to ARS that u can't go by the symptoms! So I took my 4 week and my 6 week test and just wanted to say thanx to everybody in this forum. And good luck to many!

Thanks for ur support! It could be that she was offended. Just the pain on my left side groin hurts where my lymph node would be....going to ask the doctor about it at my clinic, I read on the forums don't judge by symptoms and only test can show if u have HIV. And I figured I would be at a high risk bc she is a high risk since she was an iv drug user. Hopefully my 6 week test is neg. and my groin pain is casued by something not serious like ARS that would make me feel a lot better.....but yes going to take my 12 week test as well. Never again without a condom! I will post my results of the 6 week test when I get them. Thanks!

Hey there- a 1 time episode of unprotected vaginal sex is less than a 1 in 1,000 chance in regards to HIV. Truly, HIV is much harder to contract than people think. By all means we need to take every precaution to protect ourselves (with consistent, correct condom use) but an incident such as yours is really very low risk for HIV. You are right to be tested, however, as any time someone engages in unprotected sex they need to test to ensure their negative status.

The fact that the girl got mad at you is good news because she was most likely offended that you even asked her that. Your 4-week negative is very good news because the vast majority of infected people will test positive by about 25 days. Get your 6 week test and your conclusive 12 week test as you have already planned. I wish you the very best of luck.
