Hiv on an acupunture needle

Hi, thank you all for the great work! I wish someone can help me evaluate the risk of getting hiv infected.
I work in a clinic and earlier hours after I pulled out the acupunture needle for a patient, I accidently got pinpricked by the needle I just pulled out from the patient. I squeezed the cut and there was blood coming out, so I'm sure the acupunture needle reached my blood vessels. Is there a risk? Since it was just a few seconds after I pulled out the needle. I'm now very anxious about whether taking PEP. Thank you so much!

No, this is not a risk. A pin prick does not allow HIV to enter your bloodstream. The only risk for HIV from needles involves intravenous needles - the kind with a hollow bore and a syringe attached.

You can move on from this no-risk event.
