I know all about the anxiety being stronger than fact. I also think that letting the stress, and worry of the impossible consume your life, is more damaging than if you really were hiv positive.
I can tell you that we have seen posts like this before but the anxiety is too strong in people to believe it. This is another reason why we tell people never to use symptoms because these "symptoms" are not going to help you in any way.
The immune system will always produce detectable antibodies. There is no such thing as a carrier. The only exception with latent seroconversion are chemotherapy patients, transplant patients on meds and chronic iv drug users because they have very weak immune systems to begin with.Your caring nature and sympathy towards others is noble. You need not worry about hiv because your conclusively negative and your test results are proof of this. All the best.
I most certainly agree about testing at the 3 month for a conclusive result, because of the possibility of having contracted hiv and having no symptoms. But I just thought by posting this it might help some people who have tested negative outside the window period, and still attribute they're health concerns to hiv. I know in my own case I tested negative at 5,6,and 7.5 months post exposure, yet I still have health issues. It was very hard to let go of the possibility that my body might not be producing antibodies, and so I go on undetected. I feel that there are many more people out there that have the same problem as I did, and I hope that maybe posting this will help them get over there anxieties.
3 months is the only time a conclusive antibody test can be done. If someone was haveing true symptoms then after the period if the symptoms they most likely would test positive.
Yes thats correct. If you are experiencing genuine ARS symptoms you are very likely to have detectable antibodies, however some people who have become infected will have no ARS symptoms at all. This is why testing to 3 months post-exposure is a must and the only way to receive a conclusive result.
