A PCR is not a stand alone test used for diagnosis. You could take a DUO at 4 weeks post exposure for a very good indication of your status. We recommend a follow up antibody test at 3 months for a definitive result.
HIV test done was a Pcr rna quantitative and it was negative at 7 days .
Thanks for the response . After checking with my doc she informed me the test she used to test for HIV was the HIV-1 RNA PCR Quantitative . I took this test 7 days after the incident . It did come back negative . Can I feel a little better ?
Certainly unprotected sex puts us at HIV risk, that's why we say, never believe in words, rely on your protection. However having said that, there is a strong possibility that he may not have HIV, and one can not give something he doesn't have.
You rightly said, two weeks test is too early to get reliable results. What we can suggest you to get yourself tested for HIV Duo after 4 weeks of exposure and repeat an antibody test after 8 weeks of this test to collect your conclusive report. A negative duo test after 4 weeks is highly reassuring and very unlikely to change otherwise. However, your conclusive test still remains at 3 months mark
Hi, we dont talk of chances but only testing.
Never been through this some feedback would be great
