I took an OraQuick home test (mouth swab) last night and it came back negative. It was done at almost 6 months. I read the following below on the FDA website and on the back of the box. Should this be cause for concern? Is another test necessary to compensate for the 92% accuracy? 1 in 12 tests missing HIV infection seems high, no?
"As noted in the package insert, clinical studies have shown that the OraQuick In-Home HIV Test has an expected performance of approximately 92% for test sensitivity (i.e., the percentage of results that will be positive when HIV is present). This means that one false negative result would be expected out of every 12 test results in HIV infected individuals."
Thoughts?
