First off, I am PETRIFIED of getting HIV. I was on the beach over the weekend and felt something sharp under my toe. Its not unheard of--- I often feel one thing or another under one of my feet when walking on the beach. Thing is, this time I'm worried I might have stepped on a discarded needle. There was redness in the spot where I was pinched, but it disappeared a few minutes later and the skin color returned to normal. Lets assume the worst-case scenario: that it WAS a discarded needle with HIV-infected blood in it. What are my chances of getting infected?
