Question about CDC guidelines.

Hello. I've heard CDC reps on the phone tell people anyone can take 6 months to seroconversion and only 97% of people become positive in 3 months. What catagorys do the other 3% fall under?

Really how many times have you been told that your 3 month post exposure test was conclusive?

Then you know that you can't use the term, "I'm an alcoholic" as an excuse.

I didn't ask about your uncles, I asked why would you have unprotected sex when you already knew how HIV is transmitted?

Question, you said you had family members that contracted HIV and then you go and have unprotected sex, what is the deal there?

In an adult, a positive HIV antibody test result means that the person is infected, a person with a negative or inconclusive result may be in the “window for 4 to 6 weeks but occasionally up to 3 months after HIV exposure. Persons at high risk who initially test negative should be retested 3 months after exposure to confirm results

* Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusively negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to action by MedHelp. Conclusively negative results or a no-risk situation will be based upon the criteria established by MedHelp’s doctors. Action will be taken as follows:
    * After excessive posting, a warning will be issued by MedHelp
    * Continuing to post regarding the negative result / no risk situation will result in a 3 day suspension
    * Continuing to post upon your return will result in a permanent ban.

Oh thankyou.  Those darn phone reps lol. The guy practically wanted to convert me to radical Christianity and morally judged me for having sex while young.

Thankyou. Are you saying the phone reps are incorrect? I've heard CDC is very conservative. What people do the six month catagorye fall under? And is it true the phone reps sometimes give false info that CDC doesn't agree with?

The 3% are the ones who are on chemotherapy, had transplants or have weak immune from a defect at birth or other illnesses. You would also know if you had a weak immune system as you would be on medication and diagnosed so don't sit there and assume you have one.

Also, IV drug users (needles) may also delay the test to 6 months.
