children

hello. i have known this forum for long time, it helped my friend once, but this is the first time i have to ask. my question is weird. but i am anxious when it comes to my child so please help.  the only thing i am really curious is,if the imune system of small children is less strong and they can catch hiv more easily (or this is negligible). my 4yrs old son loves to meet a friend of mine, who is just great friend but her sexual life is not always "safe". I am very careful about the contacts when she cuts with knife while cooking etc but there is one thing that always happens too quick - sharing food and drinks. she has that terrible habit of sharing food (they are a big family and it is normal for them). like today, my son wanted a piece of water melon, so she shared with hers. she bit a piece and gave him the rest of it. till i could say something it was in his mouth. is there any possibility to transmit hiv? i am thinking about it whole day. the melon was on the air for only a few seconds till my son put it in his mouth, i am anxious about this so much.thank you!

Children never catch HIV from the sorts of events you ask about. There is no risk at all.

Having a "weak immune system" does not increase the risk of catching HIV. And anyway, the immune system is very strong at age 4, probably as strong as any time in life.

So you shouldn't be having any worries at all about your child catching HIV. He will never be at risk until he is old enough for sex.
