I went planned parenthood and did a hiv rapid test. I wasn't worried about the needle because I just assumed that it was new, not sure what kind of needle it was but it was surrounded by plastic; it was probably a lancet. I have been tested before at a health department and I had no issue with the needle because I saw them open up the needle in front of me , but for some reason this time I went to planned parenthood and I dont remember seeing the needle opened up. When she pricked my finger she told me that using the index finger was fine; she pricked it and it hurt worst than any other needle that were used on me in the past. Now I want to know if its possible to reuse an lancet, or if they are only a one time use needle. The nurse was nice, but when I asked her about std's like chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphillis and how long they take to show up she told me 3 months; but I know thats incorrect. So she seemed kind of inexperienced. Also when she administered the test she took the oraquick white pad out of the plastic and placed it on top of the plastic before she took my blood sampleI. I dont even remember if she wiped the first drop of blood from my finger. She even picked up the vile containignt the oraquick liquid and blood and took it out of the room so I wouldbnt have to look at it for 20 minutes straight. So now I'm thinking that she probably used an old lancet to prick my finger. What are the chances of me geting HIV?
