Ive recently engaged in group sex with 3 men. All insertive sex was protected. My question is if the condom was not changed between receptive partners how great is the risk of getting hiv?  Most sources suggest that it is very small due to protection plus damage to virus and transmission on outside of condom is not likely.  They say other nasties such as chlamydia syph gon are much more likely.

Could someone be so kind as to comment or support this.

Thank in advance.

No and that is one the reason I advised you it isn't a risk of HIV transmission.

Has anyone personally heard or experienced transmission in this way

They basically said nothing and said they couldnt comment on the risk?? I said what other people (including teak ) have said and they were non committal! They agreed that the risk was less than unprotected .. But couldnt say anything else.

Teaks reassurance granted me first nights sleep in a week!  Now i feel less sure my test will be negative at 28 days

You didn't have an HIV exposure so you don't need testing.

Again thank u for ur swift response. I have booked a follow up test for 28 days. Plus ive had gon syph and chlamyd testing done.

Do you feel that further testing beyond 28 days is appropriate ( last test was jan14/14 and that had 3 mnths cover!

Can i stop worrying about the potential risks of hiv from this event ?

I appreciate your kindness and time taken to answer my questions.

HIV is unable to reproduce outside its living host (unlike many bacteria or fungi, which may do so under suitable conditions), except under laboratory conditions; therefore, it does not spread or maintain infectiousness outside its host.

HIV is transmitted by;
Unprotected penetrative anal and/or vaginal sex
Sharing works with other IV drug users
Mother to child

Hey thanks for the swift reply.  So essentially if i was the btm. Even if the condom was not changed my risk Of getting hiv would be extremely low provided the condom stayed intact and lube etc. were used correctly...

My 'exposure' was 15 days ago...  So i went to a sex health clinic yest and they did a duo. ( now i know this has a 28 day optimal) and who say 12 weeks). But due to the 'symptoms' my reasoning was if they were due to anything other than anxiety then there would be antigen present! It was negative.  So it means that i was clean 28 days from yesterday ( got annual mot in jan)

Have u heard of anyone contracting hiv from the outside of a condom... Literature claims its possible but extrmemely u likely

HIV no, but there are a lot of other STDs and parasites that are not as fragile as HIV.
