Testing question

I am a gay male who had penetrative sex. I was the receiver of this. Condom used but felt wrong and then slipped off.  I have an appointment to get tested and in UK, and I understand it also does the P24 antigen test. The appt I have is for 18 days after the event, I am wondering if I should be leaving it another week so that it will be 28 days. Would this be more accurate.

sounds like it came off upon withdrawal...meaning there was no risk

what do you mean by slipped off?

was the condom left in you or was it hanging out?

A duo test at 28 days is pretty accurate. And any test at 12-13 weeks is conclusive. 18 days post exposure is too early to test.

The need for a repeat HIV test if still within the window period after a specific exposure should be discussed. Although fourth generation tests shorten the time from exposure to seroconversion a repeat test at three months is still recommended to definitively exclude HIV infection.
