Brief insertion is a very low level risk, and one that does not usually lead to seroconversion. Once again, the choice to test or not is completely up to you. If you are going to be worried about this, you can take a DUO at 28 days, But I would not be too overly concerned.
I can well understand your confusion, but I stand by my statement that regardless of the duration, the fact remains that you had unprotected insertive vaginal sex which puts you at risk for HIV and STD's.
I am not a doctor and have no intention of attempting to debate Dr.H's opinions.
The choice to test, or not, is yours.
I will pass your post on for further opinions.

Dear Ruby, thanks for your answer. It is not my intention to contradict, but I am a little confused, I have read like tons of post in the HIV protection forum and from what Dr. H has replied it seemed like such a little possibility this was a risk situation as (as far as I have read) HIV is such a difficult virus to transmit, even more from women to man, and also even from the small period of time.
Sorry to reply you with this, but I am confusen on the information from the two sources.
thank you
You can try to sugar coat it any way you want, but the bottom line is you had unprotected insertive vaginal sex and you need to test for both HIV and STD's.
Have a 4th generation DUO test at 28 days post exposure and the results will be conclusive.
For information on testing for STD's, please post on our STD Forum. I am not positive, but I believe syphilis has a 21 day incubation period...........but double check that on the STD Forum.
I wish you the best.
