Window period for different types of HIV

Hi all

Does anybody know if the window period for HIV-1 and HIV-2 are the same?  With regards to the Rapid 4th Generation HIV-1/2 P24 Antigen/Antibody Combo (HIV Duo Test).

Well, the only test that matters is you own. You test is unlikely to change if you decide to retest.

Thank you for your reply.

I had unprotected vaginal sex with a female partner 25 days ago.  Went for a rapid 4th generation test yesterday (24 days post-exposure) and the result was non-reactive for both strains.  Partner also assured me that she has gone for testing previously and is non-reactive as well.  How high is my risk, given the above information?

Window period is same for both strains of the virus. 4th generation tests are conclusive any time after 28 days but a re-test at the 3 month mark is recommended. Please state your risk so that the moderators can ***** your risk.
