condom burst

I recently had  protected (?) sex with a sex worker in Bangkok. This involved oral sex (me on her) for a few minutes (her clitoris), followed by penetration using a condom. A sudden change of sensation made me realize that the condom had burst. I withdrew without ejaculation and we both washed immediately. The girl was 24, a dancer in a bar, extremely clean. In hindsight I realize she was precautious: declined to fellate me (without condom).

Can anybody give me any idea of the chances I have of having being exposed to HIV?
Needless to say that I am wracked with worry and guilt as I am married, with 3 children, good job, happy and fulfilled life etc etc. But momentarily forgot.

Hi there,

Your risk is low but real.  Go for a HIV test earliest 1 month after exposure and retest at the 3rd month for a conclusive result.

You were protected until the condom failed. It's harder to transmit HIV from female to male but the only way to know your status is to test. You can receive your conclusive test 3 months post exposure.

That was a long moment you had.  Yes you did put yourself at risk.  It looks like you have to wear condoms with your wife until the test results.
